Residential Care
Contact usQuality and safe care with retained independence
We pride ourselves in creating a friendly, homely atmosphere at our Ferring residential care home, Cornwell House. If you are interested, we currently have a lovely ground-floor room available and one on the first floor, both of which have views over our gardens. We can take respite care, early dementia and care placements from the local authority and privately funded.
- Our philosophy is to allow older people to retain as much of their independence as they would wish while doing so safely.
- Our aim is to provide the best quality care for each resident in comfortable surroundings supported by well-trained, dedicated staff all of whom are enhanced DBS checked.
- We ensure that residents are treated with dignity, courtesy and respect at all times.
Personalised rooms that make a home
Accommodation at Cornwell House is situated on two floors, serviced by a lift. All of the bedrooms have an en-suite toilet and a washbasin. We have two assisted bathrooms and an assisted shower room all within easy reach of the bedrooms.
Rooms are linked to an emergency call system so that residents can summon assistance at any time of day or night. A television and telephone point is fitted into each bedroom and there is a private, lockable storage facility for valuables. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms by bringing in small items of furniture and belongings.
Relatives and friends are welcomed
The spacious main lounge has an adjoining sunroom and there is an additional small lounge for those seeking quiet or privacy with visitors.
Residents enjoy their meals in a bright and airy dining room where they can be joined by guests. Dedicated cooks prepare and cook a wide range of dishes from fresh, natural, local produce. Residents can take their meals in their rooms when preferred.
Relatives, friends and representatives are always welcome and can stay for meals for which a small charge is made.
Social activities and events
Residents enjoy activities, social events and a varied entertainment programme, building and maintaining links with each other and the local community.
Cornwell House has Clergy led services, private communion is available and transport can be arranged to attend local church services.
Regular in-house hairdressing and chiropody are available by arrangement and the Friends of Ferring can provide transport for hospital visits and appointments.
Experience care for older people
Abbeyfield Ferring has been providing high-quality care locally for nearly 40 years. We aim to maintain our friendly, cheerful and homely environment and ensure that our standards are first class.
We are registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide residential care for twenty older people.
Prospective residents are encouraged to view the home and spend time with a member of the care team who will answer any questions. Respite care and short-term stay arrangements are welcomed depending on availability.
See our Home Care services page if you are looking for care in the community.
